The People’s Choice Awards 2013.

The People’s Choice Awards hosted by Kaley Cuoco recently took place and brought with them a few unexpected surprises on the red carpet- Jennifer Aniston and Naomi Watts. Considering the relaxed feel of the awards, there was a slew of floor length gowns and sexy styles out on the red carpet.

All White. It is no secret that everyone looks good in this classic monotone. Taylor Swift went sexy in a floor length white gown with a plunging neckline, Morena Baccarin in an all white off the shoulder jumpsuit while Ellen Pompeo and Regina King decided to break the monotony of their white dresses with touches of black.

Black. Perenially chic - black accented with sequins, a pop of colour and fringe from Heidi Klum, Sandra Bullock and made for an elegant red carpet.

From L-R: Jennifer Lawrence, Heidi Klum, Jillian Rose Reed, Erinn Hayes and Sandra Bullock

Color. Brighter shades stood out on the red carpet in the form of Lea Michele, Rachel Leigh Cook, Chloe Grace Moretz amongst others.

Embellishment. Naomi Watts shimmered in gold and black as  Rumer Willis sparkled in black and silver while Kaley Cuoco turned out in a feather embellished number.

Resort 2013

Resort wear is clothing designed for trips to sunny warm climates in winter. Designers mix a bit of the previous fall/winter silhouettes with a sneak peak into the upcoming spring summer collections. Resort is usually for people who live in cold snowy places that go for a brief retreat somewhere warm as a welcome break and designers make special clothes for these holiday places such as Caribbean beaches, tropical islands, and for boat cruises through warm tropical seas.  Designers offered up a wealth of options with their Resort collections. Here is a look at the Resort 2013 runway trends.

Lace. The feminine fabric has gotten an updated and modern look saturated in deep pinks, black and mixed with sheer. Lace dresses are sure to win over the most androgynous of dressers.

Short Shorts. Shorts will always be a favourite for the tropical beach crowd and this time was no different. Designers made them a wide and breezy to fit into the feel of the warm retreats that the holiday places are known for.

Peplum. Peplums, a carryover from the spring summer collections has proved to be a popular trend. The fall runways demonstrated its staying power and resort confirms its ongoing appeal. From denim to printed silks, peplum is here to stay.

Sheer White. Sheer white acting as a palate cleanser to the abundance of colour and patterns seen from past seasons is a welcome touch to the resort collections.

Embellished Collars. Statement necklaces have been the go-to solutions to spice up simple Tees and dresses but these pieces have sparkle built in them. Beaded and Bejewelled necklines popped up on Tees, blouses and sheath dresses that paraded down the runways.

Fashion Week 2012.

The month of January always brings round one of the biggest events in the fashion industry especially for designers and clients alike. It marks the beginning of Fashion Week where designers showcase their latest collections on the most glamorous runways. From Paris to Milan. Fashion Week manages to forecast trends for the different seasons.
Here are some of the trends straight off the Fashion Week Runways.
Geometric Prints. Unlike last years’ very floral prints, this year the prints have gone Geometric. Bold, colorful prints with a hint of Asian style and cut have been incorporated into so many designers runway collections, but I must say that Mary Katrantzou had the most gorgeous assembly of prints in her collection and they worked beautifully.

Sheer beauty. Sheer slowly picked up late last year and designers don’t seem to get enough of it. The display of sheer creations on the runway was simply beautiful and to die for especially the embellished sheer collections.

Christian Dior S/S12
Embellishments. If you are a fan of glitter, sequins and all things beautiful, you will love this year’s runway collections. Gowns embellished with floral appliques, glass and feathers were bountiful on the runway proving that every girl no matter how old can enjoy a little bit of shine and shimmer.

Dolce & Gabbana S/S12
White on White. This primary color has made its mark as one of the IT colors for this season. Models walked the runways in snowy white creations from head to toe almost making it a winter wonderland.

Blugirl F/W12
Sorbet Colors. Bright bold colors were really huge last season and still appeared in some of this year’s Fashion Week collections. What I loved most was the display of cool sorbet colors on the runway making it a welcome sight for really sore eyes.
