London Fashion Week: Autumn/Winter 2013.

Known as the cradle for cutting edge fashion, monochrome set the stage as London designers kicked off London Fashion Week  for their Autumn/Winter 2013 with elegant and minimalistic collections.

Monochrome. The magic of monochrome continued its way onto the runways of London for A/W 2013.

Slits. Thigh split at the back, front and the side skirts and dresses were aplenty.

Belted Waists. Waists cinching silhouettes made their onto Autumn/Winter collections for London fashion week.

Leopard Print. With a strong emphasis on Leopard prints, English designers answered calls to the wild.

Metallics. Sharp silhouettes got definitive with metallic detailing to give them a modern look.

Over Trousers. Layering came in the form of skirts and dresses over slim cropped trousers and baggy pants for chic looks.

Leather. Acting as a backdrop, leather formed key parts of collections on the London runways.

Off the Shoulders. Shoulder baring dresses and tops showed off dainty shoulders and skin for fall.

Sheer. The see-through trend was very rife on the runways of London fashion week.

Shine and Shimmer. There is an explosion of beads and sequins on loose elegant gowns and dresses to dance the night away.

Pre-Fall 2013-2014

Pre-fall collections bridge the gap between Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer as they are a forecast of trends to come in the major Fashion Week shows. They can take place at any location and usually presented on static models rather than a catwalk.
Here are some of the trends to watch out for in pre-fall Autumn/Winter 2013-2014.
Fur. An easy way to make anything glamorous, fur and fur trimmed ensembles were abundant in the pre-fall collections of Belstaff, Burberry, Vera Wang and Thakoon.

Baroque. This rich but luxurious fabric hit its way onto the forefront at Versace, Belstaff, Michael Kors and Reed Krakoff.

Leather. Rich and tan, leather in all its suppleness made its way onto Reed Krakoff, 3.1 Philip Lim, Chanel, Michael Korrs and Burberry for their pre-fall 2013-2014 collections.

Embellishment. Sequins, Crystals and glitter polished pre-fall collections for Naem Khan, Parabal Gurung, Oscar De La Renta and Monique Lhuillier.

Hats. Hats topped off tomboy inspired chic collections at Rachel Zoe, Temperley, Alexander Wang and Opening Ceremony.

Stripes. From horizontal to zigzag, Jason Wu, Burberry, Diane Von Furstenberg, Alice + Olivia made it a striped affair in their pre-fall 2013-14 collections.

Lace. Delicate lace with luxurious embroidery wove its way onto pre-fall 2013-2014 ensembles from Diane Von Furstenberg, Chanel, Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier.

Knits. Soft and luxurious chunky knits made dresses, sweaters at Gucci, Temperley, Chanel and Missoni.

Belts. Waists were cinched at Calvin Klein, Diane Von Furstenburg, Gucci and Temperley for their pre-fall 2013-2014 collections.

Parabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2013-14

Prints. 3.1 Philip Lim, Gucci, Timo Weilland and Rachel Zoe took to the jungle for some of their animal print inspired pre-fall 2013-14 collections.
